S.Santhi fails gender test

S. Santhi, who won the silver medal in the women's 800metres in the Asian Games, failed a gender test at Doha. Following this, the Olympic Council of Asia has decided to withdraw the medal from the Indian athlete. The Tamilnadu athlete won the 1500mgold and the 800 silver in the South Asian Games in Colombo in August this year. Indian athletics has been put in an embarrassing position after this episode.

Top Seeds Paes and Mahesh go for Gold at Doha Games(14, Dec 2006)
Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi won the Asiad men's doubles gold playing against the the Thai doubles pair of Sanchai Ratiwatana and Soncha Ratiwatana. The 2 hour 43 minute marathon game was clinched by the Indians to the din and roar of cheering Indians at the Khalifa Tennis Complex, Doha. A great comeback for probably the best loved pair in Indian Tennis.
