Varun Gandhi, the prodigal grandson?
Varun Gandhi, the great grandson of first prime minister of our country Late Jawaharlal Nehru and grandson of another Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi. He is also nephew to another Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi. This has been family of politicians. Varun Gandhi dad Late Sanjay Gandhi was also a politician and a rebel of his time. They have all been part of Congress. Dynastic Politics!!! It was after death of Sanjay Gandhi, His wife Maneka Gandhi left the Gandhi parivaar due to her differences with mother-in-law Indira Gandhi. Varun Gandhi was brought up by her mom Maneka Gandhi. She has also been part of Lok Sabha as an Independent. She is more known for loving animals. Here after expiry of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991, the congress was finding it difficult to hold itself without anyone from Gandhi Parivaar. Finally with lot of perusal, Sonia Gandhi, the wife of Late Rajiv Gandhi entered politics. Sonia and Maneka had lot of disliking for each other. Their relationships were bitter.
Rahul Gandhi, son of Sonia Gandhi has also entered politics and doing well from himself. He is the future of Congress and is already been seen as prime ministerial candidate. He is everyone's apple eye in congress. Rahul Gandhi has got everything easy. But in another side, Varun Gandhi had to fight for his rights. Varun Gandhi did not join congress but to everyone surprise joined Bharathiya Jantha Party (BJP). BJP was never going to promote Varun in same way as Congress vied for Rahul Gandhi. Varun had to live up to standards of his family, which has ruled India over 25 years. There have been three prime ministers from that family. This was sibling rivalry. It reminded of Arjun versus Karna in Mahabharata. Rahul Gandhi got more attention from media then Varun Gandhi. Everybody in political circle had rahul's name. Varun Gandhi could not catch up that attention of media. BJP had lot of leaders under them. Varun wanted attention of leaders in BJP Party, Media and people. For that attention, he took a shorter route of controversy.
Varun Gandhi had forgotten, we are secular and liberal country. Why is he trying the philosophy of hatred? Gandhi Parivaar is not known for this. They have promoted peace and non violence. With his controversial speech of hatred, he has caught the attention of everybody, be it leaders in his party, media and people. The BJP leaders are using him and trying to earn sympathy votes for him. This Gandhi has brought lot of mud to the Gandhi parivaar. There has come time to stop dynastic politics. Varun Gandhi has been educated abroad. He needs to think more global and wisely. He shouldn't preach the politics of hatred but needs to talk about the development. He has to live up to the standards of his great grand father Jawahar Lal Nehru and Grandmother Indira Gandhi.
