The prelims 2019 is over and most are preparing for the mains exam. However those that are planning to write the prelims in 2020 should start planning and preparing from now itself. The prelims exam 2020 dates are as follows.

Last date of application 03rd March 2020
Date of exam 31st May 2020

Exam Pattern for Prelims

The Prelims exam consists of 2 compulsory papers - General Ability test (GAT) and Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT). This will test the analytical skills of the candidates and their general awareness of current events. The papers are objective in nature with 4 answer choices for each question. Its a complex system for which we recommend you go through previous year questions. Questions will be set in both English and Hindi. However, questions relating to the English Language Comprehension skills of class 10th level will be tested through a passage from English language only without providing Hindi translation in the question paper. IAS Prelims is qualifying in nature. Candidates have to get a minimum of 33 % toqualify for the Mains. The number of candidates to be admitted to Mains will be about 12 to 13 times the total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year. Exam mode has been offline so far.
