Indian Railway Personnel Service

Indian Railway Personnel Service involves tasks such as recruitment of all railway staff (inspectors, drivers, IRTS officers) and planning of recruitments, deciding promotions, postings, training, welfare, in fact all work concerning personnel.

The hierarchy:

Chief Personnel Officer > Chief Planning and Labour Officer > Additional Chief Planning Officer > Deputy Chief Planning Officer (Selection Grade) > Senior Divisional Personnel Officer > Divisional Personnel Officer > Assistant Personnel Officer

Indian Railway Personnel Service Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Indian Railway Personnel Service exam is the same as for other services. Once the candidate clears the civil services and gets allotment to the Indian foriegn service as per his rank, he has to go through specified training.

Indian Railway Personnel Service Recruitment and Training

One of the department of Indian Railways, here also the officers are recruited in two ways i.e though regular UPSC or Civil Services Exam and through upgrading the Group 'B' officers already serving the IRPS division. As like other railways services IRPS officers recruitment also has half positions for direct recruitment and half through upgrading the Group 'B' officers.

The trainee IRPS officers have to pursue 93 weeks training programme which also consist of 15 weeks UPSC or Civil Service foundation course. This programme has to undergone before induction into service at several zones of railway and other offices.

The IRPS officers training programme is held at LBSNAA (Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration) - Missouri, NAIR (National Academy of Indian Railways) - Vadodara, NADT (National Academy for Direct Taxes) - Nagpur and specific institutes approved for training. Like on field training at Railways Zones, Manufacturing Units, and Construction Units of Indian Railways and also reputed management institution for Human Resources and Personnel Management.

Indian Railway Personnel Service Exam 2016

The Indian Railway Personnel Service exam 2016 notification has come and the last date of online application was on the 27th of may 2016. The date of prelims exam is 7th August 2016. The next exam will happen in 2017 around the same time.

The syllabus for the civil services exam in 2015 and every other year is the same for the Indian Railway Personnel Service as well as other services. There is no difference whatsoever.
