What should be done with film stars and politicians found guilty of rape/murder/terrorism?

Film stars have acted as an agent of change for decades in India, these handful people play eminent role in shaping our modern society and influencing the minds of youth, in other hands politicians are the people selected by the humble and truthful population of country and everyone holds high hope from them. Politicians and film stars have greater social responsibility than a common man because their profession ignites the mind of millions and they hold the faith of millions. In India especially youth always try to emulate their favorite film stars or politicians and take them as there highest source of inspiration.
The point here is being proved guilty what should be the Law�s treatment with them? Let me make it very clear that accused and proved guilty are two very different cases in India. Until the charges are proven in the court the accused is not considered any way different from any normal citizen of India. These are very different things as one before and other after court�s founding one guilty of the crime. If we talk in terms of the proven guilty YES I would say they deserve much more punishment than a common man because in there case the harm towards the society is not only criminal offence but also psychological damage towards a portion of society who admires them, and I think that damage is more heinous and it should be washed off.
Coming to the pre-trial period of the accused these high profile people hold strong media attention. These media houses literally sell the issues and stretch them to the obnoxious contours making the core issue trivial. The result is that as soon as the media attention is deflected these accused get the escape. In my opinion an unbiased media with less commercialization of news will emphasis the speedy movement of whole case. As I emphasized in the last paragraph also the share of punishment must be according to the social responsibility of the person. As far as the quality of punishment is concerned the trails of these favorites of public must also involve the common public and people must be given chance to decide upon the punishment awarded.
